Why I started Nonna

Nonna began as a deeply personal mission to preserve the little moments that make life so meaningful. It all started with my mom, who I’ve shared countless core memories with over our lifetimes. I found myself wanting to capture her voice, her stories, and the small yet heartwarming moments that make her who she is. Over time, I built a collection of videos and memories that brought me joy and serve as a living biography of the amazing memories we’ve shared together no matter how big or small. I’ve captured everything: hiking the Italian Dolomites together, dancing with her at friends’ weddings, the laughter we’ve shared making cozy and casual meals at home.

My memories from childhood are happy but fuzzy; I recall one Christmas break when I was maybe eleven years old and it started snowing heavily, which in Virginia (which rarely saw more than an inch or two of snow at a time), meant all roads were closed. My mom let me open a single present early that year — it was a giant green sled and I couldn’t be more excited. We put on our snow gear and she pulled me from our house to the movie theater. We were the only ones in the theater other than a single employee working the ticket counter, and they let us park the sled behind the ticket booth. It’s one of my favorite memories from childhood because of how spontaneous and adventurous it felt at the time — but it will only live in my mind (this was pre iPhone).

Nonna is about more than just recording. It's about creating a bridge between generations, ensuring that the wisdom, humor, and love of our parents and grandparents are not just remembered, but truly experienced by future generations. It's a way to say: these moments matter.

We live in an age of endless digital noise, but Nonna is different. It's intimate. It's personal. It's about capturing the essence of human connection—those small, seemingly insignificant moments that, in reality, are the very fabric of our lives.

My hope is that Nonna will help families everywhere recognize and preserve their own unique stories, creating a legacy of love that transcends time.
